Sukiyaki

Japanese stir fry, can be made with beef, pork or chicken as well as seafood

ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 pound sirloin beef, sliced very thin
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 leek, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 1 cup sugar snap peas
  • A handful of cellophane noodles pre-soaked
  • 7-8 shiitake mushrooms
  • 1 bunch water cress
  • 1 package tofu cut into 1-2 inch squares
  • 2 eggs lightly beaten
  • For sukiyaki sauce:
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce / 3 tbsp sake (Japanese rice wine) / 5 tbsp sugar / 3/4 cup water
