Sausage Bread
Sausage Bread has been a staple in the Finch household since I was little. Make loaves and cut in half to wrap and freeze. Perfect to reheat an serve with soup in the winter!
ingredients
- 2 lb. mild Italian sausage
- 3 eggs(1 for egg wash)
- 1- 4 cup. package shredded mozzarella
- 2 loaves frozen bread dough
- 2 Tbsp. Italian Seasoning
- Can add 1 tsp crushed red pepper for zest
- Can use spicy sausage if desired.

Place frozen bread dough on greased or oiled dinner plate and allow to rise until doubled in size. If making recipe in the morning, do night before.

1.Crumble & cook Italian sausage in skillet on stovetop until done. Remove from heat and drain. Allow to cool.

2.Combine sausage, cheese,seasoning and 2 eggs. Mix using hands to thoroughly to combine filling.

3.Grease baking pan and spread risen bread dough out to large rectangle.

4.Spoon one half of filling lengthwise down rectangle filling only one half of the dough.

5.Starting at one end, fold the unfilled half of the dough over filling and tuck underneath, pressing closed.

6.Repeat with other half of filling and second half of dough.

7. Bake both at 350°F for 30 minutes (brush with egg wash if desired)

If serving warm, allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

If freezing, allow to cool completely before wrapping to freeze.Reheat wrapped in foil at 350°F for 30 minutes.
