Aunt Katy's famous dinner salad
I learned to cook in this woman’s kitchen. This was my favorite starter recipe and is still my favorite dish.
ingredients
- 1 Romaine head of lettuce chopped or torn
- 1 small very thinly sliced onion
- 1 tomatoe fresh or frozen (if frozen, slice very thin on a cutting board).
- Olive oil
- salt and pepper
- red wine vinegar
- 1 packet of sweet and low
directions
In med. large stainless steel bowl put lettuce, onion and tomatoe. Sprinkle with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. With a large plastic spoon, toss the salad while spinning the bowl. Salt and spin and stir, pepper, spin and stir. Then sprinkle lightly with vinegar while spinning and stirring until it tastes the way you want it.
notes
I like to now add some Almond Accents or pine nuts.
