This is originally a vegetarian recipe, but add a ham bone for more flavor.
I.
3 cups dry green splits
about 7 cups water
bay leaf
2 tsp salt
ham bone
II.
one cup minced onion
3 cloves crushed garlic
1 cup minced celery
1 small, thinly slice potato
2 cups sliced carrots
III.
¼ cup dry red wine
¼ tsp dry mustard
¼ tsp thyme
few drops sesame oil
IV.
3 Tbsp vinegar
1 cup chopped tomatoes
¼ cup freshly chopped parsley
Put ingredients in group I in crock pot. Sauté group II ingredients. Add to pot. Let cook all day.
About 15 minutes before serving, add ingredients in group III.
Just before serving, add ingredients in group IV.

PREP TIME: 0.5 hr
TOTAL TIME: 8 hr
