ASIAN BARBECUE SAUCE

Great for meat on the grill. Use as you would any other BBQ sauce.

  • Heat oil in a wok or skillet. Add garlic, ginger, chiles, black beans, and onions. Saute until brown, about 8 minutes.

  • Add Sambal and tomatoes; stir.

  • Add vinegar and deglaze the pan by stirring with a wooden spoon to incorporate any brown bits from the bottom of the pan into the sauce.

  • Add soy sauce and sugar.

  • Transfer to a blender or food processor; blend until smooth.

  • Chill at least three hours (can be made the night before using).
