Grandma Rosie's Anise Cookies

  • 5 cups flour

  • 2 cups sugar

  • 6 teaspoons baking powder

  • 6 eggs

  • ½ lb. melted butter

  • 1 tablespoon anise oil

  • Toasted chopped almonds

  • Beat eggs well. Add sugar melted butter and anise.

  • In a large bowl put in all dry ingredients, mix well. Make a well and add wet ingredients. Mix well with your hands.

  • Dough will be soft. If too soft add more flour.

  • Roll in long logs.

  • Bake @ 350° about 20 minutes

  • Let cool and slice on diagonal and bake about another 15-20 minutes.
