Grandma's Sauce

This is Jess’s family recipe for sauce. Or as the Italian’s call it, Gravy. We believe that they all follow this same recipe, and yet, each person who prepares it must have their own personal touch (or ingredient) as no batch tastes the same.

  • Saute sausage in hot oil and garlic.

  • When sausage is brown, add pureed tomatoes

  • Add pepperoni stick, oregano, basil, wine

  • Cover pot and simmer on medium flame.

  • Stir

  • After an hour, add tomato paste.

  • Simmer for ½ hour

  • Add meatballs

  • Cook for 1.5 hours with lid off of pot

  • Stir often; add water if sauce is too thick/paste-y
