The Best Gingerbread Recipe

This is wonderful when served with warm orange marmalade and whipped cream. And probably nobody would complain if a little rum was thrown into the whipped cream. Or into the gingerbread, for that matter.

  • Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees

  • Combine dry ingredients and set aside.

  • Cream sugar,and butter. Add eggs and liquid ingredients, then add dry ingredients.

  • Pour into greased baking pan. Be careful not to over- fill (½ to ⅔ of the way full). Place a pan under the oven rack to catch over flow)

  • Bake for 35 minutes. I have found it almost always takes at least 10 additional minutes to bake completely (do check it after 35 minutes though).

TOTAL TIME: 35 (minutes)
