Mazza’s SaladKim Chambers
This is a very popular salad recipe for Mount Vernon, OH. It was originated at a restaurant of the same name, Mazza’s, which, unfortunately, is now closed after 75+ years. There are a couple of other restaurants in town that now serve it, but no one did while Mazza’s was still in business. I was given the recipe by a friend almost 30 years ago.
- 1 head iceberg lettuce
- Break lettuce into bite size pieces. Cover with damp paper towel. Set in refrigerator for 1/2 to 1 hour.
- Dressing –
- 3 t. olive oil
- 1 T. salad vinegar
- 1 1/2 t. minced garlic
- 1 t. salt
- Mix/stir together.
- After the 1/2 to 1 hour, pour over lettuce. Also add –
- 3 T. crumbled gorgonzola cheese
Mix all together. I use my hands. It seems easiest!
Set salad in refrigerator, covered (not with paper towel) for 1/2 to 1 hour.
