Brown Velvet Cupcakes with Italian Buttercream Frosting
Otherwise known as “Red Velvet”, but with more cocoa powder and no food coloring...

Cupcakes- 2 1/2 cups flour or equivalent amount of cake flour (read directions on box)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups butter (do not substitute)
- Number 2B icing tip and large coupler
