Beef and Barley Soup

ingredients

• 1 1/2 lbs lean boneless round steak, trimmed and cut in 1 inch cubes
• 3 1/2 cups beef broth
• 3/4 cup dry white wine
• 1/4 tsp rosemary, crushed
• 1 bay leaf
• 1 cup celery, finely chopped
• 1 cup carrot, chopped
• 5 cups water
• 1/4 cup tomato paste
• 1/4 c dried thyme
• 1/4 tsp fennel seed
• 1/2 c pearl barley
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1/4 tsp parsley
