  • Basmati rice, 3 cups (Try Pari brand)
  • Butter, 3 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil, 3 tablespoons (don’t substitute with Olive Oil)
  • Plain yogurt, 1/2 cup (optional)
  • Saffron, 2 teaspoons, finely ground with a little ground sugar (make sure it’s not the cheaper Spanish variety)
  • Turmeric, 1 teaspoon
  • Salt, about 4 teaspoons
