Aged Cheese Scones

Try not to eat them all at one time!

  • Preheat oven at 425°F.

  • Mix all dry ingredients together in a bowl.

  • Add butter, work until texture is like small peas.

  • Add cheese.

  • Gently add buttermilk and do not overmix. Makes a ball.

  • Turn onto floured surface.

  • Flour hands, knead till flat circle 1" thick.

  • Cut into 8.

  • Brush with egg.

  • Bake 12-15 minutes till puffed and golden.

Buttermilk substitue: 1 c milk with 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice. Let stand for 10 minutes.
