Ingredients

  • FIRST LAYER:
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 t salt
  • 4 cups Hungry Jack potato flakes or your own mashed potatoes
  • SECOND LAYER:
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 pkg. onion soup mix
  • THIRD LAYER:
  • 16 to 20 oz. pkg frozen mixed vegetables, cooked and drained
  • FOURTH LAYER:
  • Velveeta cheese
  • 1 large can French fried onions, crushed

directions

Bring milk, water, butter and salt to a boil. Add potato flakes. Stir until smooth. Put in bottom of a buttered casserole dish. Brown meat. Add soup and onion soup mix. Bring to a boil. Pour over potatoes. Top with cooked vegetables. Place cheese slices on top of vegetables. Sprinkle crushed onions on top of cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
