ingredients

  • 4-5 pound beef rump roast
  • 2 Tablespoons of cooking oil
  • 2 Tablespoons of butter
  • 1 cup of red wine
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 8 black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cans(10.5 ounce) beef broth or consumme
  • 8 carrots, parred and halved
  • 1 sprig parsley
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch(to thicken gravy)
