Kraut Burgers

  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 2t Sugar
  • 1/4C warm water
  • 3/4C milk scalded and called to lukewarm
  • 1/2t Salt
  • 1T melted shortening
  • 2c flour
  • 1 lb Hamburger crumbled
  • 3C shredded cabbage
  • 1/2C chopped onion
  • 1 1/2t salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/2t monosodium guotamate
  • 1 1/2C water

    Make Dough as bread. After risen, divide into 8 parts and roll into 5" diameter.

    Divide meat mixture on dough. Bring up four corners and pinch shut. Gently mold into circular shape.

    Place seam down on greased (important) baking sheet. Let rise - 30 mins.

    Bake 375 for 30 minutes.

    Meat mixture - brown lightly.

  • 6

    Drain off fat. Blend in remaining ingredients and mix well. Bring to boiling point & simmer uncovered 20 minutes or until water evaporated.
