This is a highly adaptable recipe--evaporated milk, half and half, whole milk, skim milk, water...Whatever combination makes it as creamy as you like it.

Ingredients

  • 1/8 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water or half-and-half
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • pinch of salt
  • flavor extract, if desired
  • whipped cream or marshmallows

    Combine all ingredients in 4-cup glass measuring cup.

    Use a hand blender or whisk to make it nice and frothy.

    Microwave for 2 minutes on high.

    Stir.

    Microwave until desired temperature is reached, 1 to 2 minutes more.

    Top with whipped cream or marshmallows.

  • 7

    To be extra fancy, sprinkle a pinch of cocoa powder on top of whipped cream.

This is also yummy with flavor extract added to it--peppermint, raspberry, extra vanilla or whatever your favorite may be.
