Vegetarian Steamed Dumplings

A great dish to go with the Vegetarian Thai Satay. Wonderful for guests and parties.

ingredients

  • 1/2 lb firm tofu
  • 1/2 cup coarsely grated carrots
  • 1/2 cup shredded Napa cabbage
  • 2 Tbls finely chopped red pepper
  • 2 Tbls finely chopped scallions
  • 2 tsp finely mined fresh ginger
  • 1 Tbl chopped cilantro leaves
  • 1 Tbl soy sauce
  • 2 Tbl hoisin sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Bowl of water, plus additional water for steamer
  • 35 to 40 small wonton wrappers
  • Non-stick vegetable spray for the steamer
