Alison’s Oatmeal Cake

Spice cake, topped with broiled coconut topping.
ingredients
Cake- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 cup boiling water
- 1 cup oatmeal
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 6 Tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup coconut

This recipe was one mom use to make when we were kids, and I think it came from Alison Clarke. The broiled topping makes the cake.
