Ham and Broccoli Strata
ingredients
- 1 20-oz. bag frozen broccoli florets (thawed and drained well)
- 3/4 lb. diced ham
- 12 oz. (3 cups) shredded Jarlsberg or Swiss cheese
- 1 loaf (9.5 oz.) French bread, cut diagonally in 16 slices, 1-1/4" thick
- 6 large eggs
- 3 Tbs. Dijon mustard
- 2 cups milk
- 3 Tbs. minced onion
- 1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
- 1/2 tsp. paprika

Lightly grease 9x13" baking dish. Toss broccoli, ham, and cheese in a bowl until mixed. Spoon half the mixture evenly over bottom of baking disch. Arrange bread slices, slightly overlapping, in 2 long rows on top. Spoon remaining broccoli mixture on top. In blender, whip 1 egg with mustard until well blended. Blend in remaining eggs, milk, onion, and hot pepper sauce until well blended. Pour evenly over dish; sprinkle with paprika. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

Heat oven to 350°. Bake uncovered strata 35 - 45 minutes until top is lightly browned and wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean.

Assemble 1 day ahead so liquid can be absorbed.
