Molasses Cookies

These cookies are so good. They’re crispy on the outside and chewy in the middle. I’ve been making them for over 30 years and they’re an all-time favorite. You’ll find like in our house they don’t last long.

  • In a mixing bowl, cream together shortening and brown sugar. Stir in egg and molasses and mix well. Fold in remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover and chill till firm (1-2 hours).

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Roll dough into small balls and roll in white sugar. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 9-10 minutes. Remove from sheet and place on paper to cool.
