Rachel (my daughter from the “hood”) as I used to say, didn’t think that I could get this right. A comfort food that our family never attempted, so I went for it with her assistance and her friend Samantha and made it to perfection. Thank you very much.

ingredients

  • 1 large bag of collard greens
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 large turkey legs
  • seasoned salt

directions

  • 1

Put turkey legs with onion into cooking pot and cover with water.

  • 2

Boil for about 3 hours until turkey falls off the bone. Remove legs from liquid and remove pieces of meat from leg and separate into small pieces.

  • 3

While you are in the process of disassembling the turkey legs add the collard greens to the liquidy onion mixture. Add back the meat to the pot and simmer until well cooked.

  • 4

It takes the greens awhile to cook well so be very patient. Add seasoned salt to taste and enjoy the aroma that fills the house.

notes

You can do it the VERY hard way and use fresh collard greens but that is alot of work just cleaning and cutting so I go with the frozen. It's much easier.
