Moosehead Bear Stew
Bear meat marinated in Moosehead Beer makes the difference
ingredients
- 2 lbs bear, cubed
- 1-2 bottles Moosehead Beer
- oil for browing meat and veggies
- 4 medium onions, quartered
- 4 medium potatoes, quartered
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 3-4 carrots, chopped
- 3 bay leaves
- 1 can tomato paste
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- salt and pepper to taste

The night before, marinate the bear meat in 1-2 bottles Moosehead Beer

The next day, drain and pat dry.

Add oil to a large kettle. Add bear meat and brown on all sides. Add onion, garlic and saute. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 1 hour or until flavors are mixed and veggies and meat are tender. Remove bay leaves.

When my husband and I were living in North Dakota, a hunter friend of ours gave us some bear meat and Moosehead Beer. Not a beer drinker and not knowing what to do with the bear, we decided to put it all together in a stew. It was great.
