Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies
These cookies are especially delicious right out of the oven. I like to use miniature chocolate morsels because I think they yield a denser cookie, but you can use whatever type of chocolate chip you have on hand.
ingredients
- 3/4 cup Crisco shortening
- 1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp good vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375.

Combine Crisco, brown sugar, milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until well blended. Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Mix into creamed mixture until just blended. Fold in chocolate chips.

Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough 3 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake one sheet at a time. Do not overbake.

*Optional: Substitute 1 cup loosely chopped pecans for 1/2 cup chocolate chips.

Add a piece of sandwich bread to the container you store the cookies in to preserve freshness.
