Hearty Loggers Chili

This chili is rich with meat and not overbearing with beans. This is from Aunt Mary’s sis-in-law Kirsten

  • 1 Pound Ground Beef
  • 1 Pound Kielbasa Sausage
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Cup Onion, Chopped
  • 1 Cup Green Pepper, Diced
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1 16oz. Kidney Beans, Drained
  • 1 16oz Stewed Tomatoes
  • 1 16oz Tomato Sauce
  • 2 Bay Leaves
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/3 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Oregano

    Saute beef in a large heavy pot, drain and set aside in a separate dish.

    Cut sausage into small pieces.

    In same pot, saute sausage until browned; set aside with ground beef.

    In same pot, saute onions and peppers in olive oil until soft, but not brown.

    Add garlic, saute 2 minutes more.

    Add ground beef and sausage together with the remaining ingredients.

    Simmer, uncovered-1 hour.

  • 8

    Serve with sour cream and grated cheese.
