Southern Corn Bread

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder


Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs and beat well. Add cornmeal and continue beating until well mixed. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Add alternately with milk. Pour in 9x9x2 inch pan. Bake for 40 minutes at 375 degrees.
