Captain Hook’s Cold Spiced ShrimpCecilia
A perennial party favorite of all my parents guests!
- 2 lb med to large fresh shrimp
- 1 tsp fresh ground pepper
- 1 Tbsp celery salt
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp ground mustard
- 1 Tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- Dash of mace
- 1 1/2 cups season vinegar
Wash and remove shrimp from shells. Slice open the back side of shrimp slightly to expose the shrimp meat.
Combine above ingredients in a zip lock bag. Mix well.
Add shrimp to bag and shake until shrimp are coated thoroughly. Refrigerate over night in bag.
Place 4 cups water and 1-1/2 cups of any season vinegar in bottom of steamer.
Place shrimp in rack high enough so water doesn’t touch shrimp. Steam for 10 minutes.
Chill and serve with lemon wedges
