  • 1/2 lb smoked bacon, chopped
  • 1 qt water
  • 2 14.5 oz cans chicken broth
  • 2 large russet potatoes, scrubbed clean and cubed
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
  • 2 c kale or Swiss chard, chopped
  • 1 c fat free half and half
  • Salt and pepper to taste
