Pound Cake
ingredients
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1/2 C solid vegetable shortening
- 3 C sugar
- 5 eggs
- 3 C cake flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 C milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp almond extract
directions
Cream together butter and shortening. Add sugar and continue to cream until perfectly smooth, about 10 minutes. Add eggs one at at time, beating until well blended. Sift together the flour and baking powder. Add dry ingredients a little at a time to creamed mixture. Slowly add milk, then extracts. Spoon batter into a greased and floured Bundt pan or a large tube pan that has bottom lined with wax or parchment paper and has been greased and floured. Place into a cold oven. Set temperature at 350° and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until top springs back when touched. Cool slightly and remove from pan.
