Hawaiian Shoyu Chicken
ingredients
- 1 c. low sodium soy sauce
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. or 2-inch piece sliced ginger (peeled)
- 3-4 pressed garlic cloves
- 1/2 sweet round onion
- Chicken Thighs (boneless & skinless work best)
directions
Place all the ingredients in a large pot and bring to boil. This mixture will boil over very easily, so stay close by when bringing it to a boil. As soon as it starts to boil, reduce to medium-low heat, cover with a lid and let simmer for 20-30 minutes, until the chicken is cooked through. Serve over rice.
