Olive Garden Soup

I found this recipe on-line one Christmas and it was a big hit.
ingredients
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 3-5 slices bacon
- 4 large russet potatoes (peeled and cut into chunks)
- 1 lg white onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 3 cans chicken broth
- 9 cups water
- 2 TBLS oil
- 2/3 cup half and half
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp pepper
- 2 cups chopped kale
directions
Brown sausage, bacon, garlic and onion in oil (can be done ahead of time and frozen). Combine broth, water, salt and potatoes and boil until potatoes are tender. Add sausage mixture. Add kale and half & half the last 5 minutes.
