Cheese-Chive Pumpernickel
Great loaf of bread served with BBQ’s.
ingredients
- 3/4 cup softened butter
- 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
- 1 - 1 lb loaf round pumpernickel
directions
Cream butter, chives, cheese and mustard until well blended. Cut bread into 12 crosswise slices about 3/4" thick. Spread cheese mixture onto every other slice. Wrap loaf in foil. Bake at 425 degrees for about 25 minutes. Unwrap and serve as sandwiches.

This can also be an oblong loaf and is delicious served with a summer barbecue or a winter's day soup.
