Hot Fudge Sauce

When scooped cold on ice cream, this is identical to what is served at the Custard Cup,“the” spot in Danville, Il. It is wonderful, hot or cold.

ingredients

  • 1/2 C butter
  • 2 1/2 C. Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 Chocolate squares
  • 1, 12 ounce can evaporated milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

directions

    Melt butter on a double boiler. Drop in Chocolate and melt in. Add sugar very graduall-make sure water is still simmering in double boiler. Last add vanilla

  • 2

    Cook until desired thickness- about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Can be stored in refrigerator for a long time and reheated. Makes one quart.
