GrandMommy's Fudge
A very popular treat in our house - with lots of dibs placed on licking the spoon and bowl!
ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups milk (2% or better)
- 2 squares unsweetened Baker’s chocolate
- 2 Tbsp. light Karo syrup
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract

In a pot, combine sugar, milk, chocolate, syrup and salt.

Mix well and cook slowly, stirring constantly on low to medium heat, until mixture forms a soft ball when dropped into cold water. Remove from heat.

Add butter and vanilla.

Beat until texture changes – becomes very viscous – and the mixture loses its shine. Pour into buttered pie plate or equivalent. Wait to cut into pieces for several minutes (the cooling will make for neater pieces).
