Apple pie
Cooked apples baked with cake batter topped with a honey glaze.
ingredients
- 3 apples
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 extra large egg
- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- For the syrup:
- 80 ml butter
- 80 ml honey

Preheat oven to 1800c and grease a 20 cm pie dish with butter or non stick spray.

Peel the apples,deseed,cut into wedges and cook till half done.Drain apples reserving the syrup.

Heat butter,sugar,reserved apple syrup. once sugar has dissolved,leave to cool.Beat in egg.Combine cake flour and baking powder and add to the butter mixture.Mix to form a slack batter.

Arrange apples wedges in a pie dish and pour the batter on top. Bake for 25 to 30 min or until golden brown and baked through.

To make syrup,melt butter or margarine with honey and pour over the pie as soon as it comes out of oven. Serve with ice-cream or cream.
