Chicken Pie
A great meal to make ahead and freeze for company.
ingredients
- Filling:
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2/3 cup cream or milk
- 2 cups cut up cooked chicken
- 1 1/2 cups each cooked peas and carrots (or substitute potatoes)
- PASTRY:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons water

FILLING:

Mix butter, flour, seasoning chicken broth and cream in a saucepan. Boil and stir constantly. Mix together chicken, veggies, and sauce. Pour in greased casserole dish. Top with pastry.

Mix shortening, flour, salt, celery seed, paprika. Sprinkle water. Mix with fork. Round into ball. Roll and cover the filling.

Bake at 350° until golden and bubbly.
