Immense Fruit Salad

ingredients

  • 1 ripe fragrant pineapple
  • 2 pink or white grapefruit, cut in sections
  • 2 or 3 naval oranges
  • 1 pint strawberries, stemmed and halved, or quartered lengthwise
  • 2 or 3 ripe peaches, sliced (peeled if you feel like it)
  • 1 cup red seedless grapes
  • 1 cup green seedless grapes
  • 1 medium canteloupe, cut into balls
  • 3 or 4 ripe kiwis, peeled and sliced crosswise
  • 1/2 cup sugar, or to taste (use less probably)
  • 1/4 cup or more freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup or more freshly squeezed lime juice

directions

Put all the fruit into a large bowl. One hour before, add 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1/4 cup each of lime and lemon juice. Refrigerate, folding gently several times. The fruits will hold longer than an hour, but are at their best when served promptly.
