Great homemade lasagne recipe
ingredients
- 1 1/2-2 lbs. ground beef (may substitute 1/2 with ground pork)
- 1 small onion - chopped fine
- minced garlic (or 1 close chopped)
- 1/4-1/2 cup olive oil
- Dash of Italian dressing (optional)
- 1 can tomato paste
- 3 cans tomato sauce
- Basil, Oregano, and Parsley
- 1 tsp. salt and peppere
- 1 tsp. Cheyenne
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Bay Leaf (remove after cooking sauce)
- 1 Container Ricotta or small curd cottage cheese
- 1 1/2 lbs. of Mozzarella cheese
- Parmesan cheese (or Romano)
- 1 lb. lasagne noodles
- hard boiled eggs (optional - I do)

Brown chopped onion with garlic in olive oil in large sauce pan, about 5 minutes. Stir constantly.

Add: tomato paste and sauce, salt, black and red pepper, brown sugar, bay leaf, Italian dressing. Simmer.

Meanwhile, brown meat, drain and add to sauce. Should simmer a total of about 1 hour. The last 15 mins. add all the remaining spices.

Cook noodles according to package adding 2 Tbsp. of oil to water if not specified. Drain and separate noodles. Layer in pan:

1/2 cup sauce (just to scarcely covere bottom), noodles, ricotta or cottage cheese, Mozzarella, Parmesan, then sauce. Continue additional 1-2 layers. Be sure to end with sauce o top covered with Parmesan (or Romano) cheese. Let sit a bit before cutting.

May freeze what you don’t eat.

For our family, I do use hard boiled eggs, but no green peppers, mushrooms or olives.
