Whole Wheat Bread
Fabulously light and airy whole wheat bread
ingredients
- 2 1/4 teaspoon yeast
- 1 1/4 cup warm water
- 1-2 Tablespoons honey or sugar
- 2 tablespoons oil or butter, softened
- 1 egg (optional)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon dough enhancer
- 1 tablespoon wheat gluten (optional)
- 3-4 cups whole wheat flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water with sugar/honey until foamy.

Add oil, egg and salt, mix. Add gluten & enhancer and one cup of flour. Continue adding flour one cup at a time until dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl and is soft but not sticky.

Knead 10 minutes. Cover and let rise 1 hour or until double in size. Form into loaf and let rise until double in size.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes. Makes 1 loaf.

*To make two loaves, increase water to 2 1/4 cups, 1 tablespoon of yeast and 2 teaspoons of salt.
