Pork Chops Italiano
A zingy way to enjoy pork chops in a basil-seasoned tomato sauce with melted cheese. Easy and fast to make
ingredients
- 6 bone-in pork chops (3/4“-1” thick)
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- 2 cans (8 oz. each) tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 3 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. dried basil
- 6 slices of mozzarella cheese
- 1 medium green pepper sliced or cut into rings.

Sprinkle pork chops with pepper. In a large skillet (or electric skillet) brown chops in margarine on both sides. About 5 minutes per side at 425°

Meanwhile, in a bowl combine tomato sauce, water, Italian seasoning and basil stirring until spices mixed through.

Pour over chops, reduce heat and simmer covered 6-8 minutes.

Top pork chops with mozzarella cheese and green pepper rings.. re-cover and cook 5 minutes longer until cheese is melted and peppers are crisp but cooked.
notes
Can replace pepper with spices of choice to season pork-chops.
