Grandma's Pot Roast

Put the butter in a pot.

Salt and pepper the meat. Brown meat on all sides in the pot. When brown, take it out.

Slice onion and put in pot to brown. When onion is brown, put meat back in pot. Pour hot water in pot so that it covers meat 1/4 of the way.

Cover the pot and cook over medium or low flame. If water evaporates, put more in.

After about an hour, put a meat fork in the middle of the meat. If blood comes out, cook it for about another hour.

During the last hour, put in the mushrooms and roast until the meat is done.
