Homemade Tortillas

- prep time:

- total time:
- 20 minutes
ingredients
- 3 C flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 4-6 tbsp butter-softened
- About 1 1/4 C warm water
directions
- 1
Mix Dry ingredients in a large bowl.
- 2
Add softened butter and mix by using a fork, pastry cutter or my favorite-your hands.
- 3
Next add the water a little at a time while mixing until the dough forms a nice ball and is not sticky anymore. (This usually happens when you have used up all the flour)
- 4
Knead the dough for a few minutes. Now form 10-12 small dough balls. Let them rest for 10 minutes. (They deserve it after all that work!) The dough is much easier to roll out once it has sat for 10 minutes or so.
- 5
Warm up your skillet to a medium/high heat.Roll out your tortillas (tip - they will not be perfectly round and that’s ok!). Make them fairly thin.
- 6
Lay them out on the skillet for maybe a minute and then flip. You should see the nice brown speckles that lets you know you are doing it right!
- 7
Place them in a towel or tortilla warmer and they are ready to eat!
