Turtle Brownies
ingredients
- 4 squares unsweetened bakers chocolate
- 3/4 cup butter
- 2 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup flour
- 1 pkg caramels
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 2 cup pecans or walnut halves, divided
- 1 pkg(12oz) baker’s real semi-sweet chocolate chips(optional)

Preheat the oven to 350°

Grease a foil lined 13x9 pan.

Microwave the chocolate squares and butter in a microwavable dish on high, for 2 minutes or until butter is melted

Stir sugar into the chocolate mixture until well blended. Mix in the eggs. Stir in the flour.

Spread 1/2 of batter in the prepared pan

Bake for 25 minutes or until batter is slightly firm to the touch.

Meanwhile microwave the caramels and cream in a microwavable bowl on high, for 2 minutes, or until the caramels begin to melt. Whisk the mixture until smooth. Stir in 1 cup of nuts. Gently spread caramel mixture over the brownie batter. Sprinkle with chocolate chips (if desired). Pour remaining unbaked brownie batter evenly over caramel mixture. Sprinkle remaining nuts.

Bake for an additional 30 minutes.

Cool in the pan.

Run a knife around the edge of the pan to loosen brownies from the sides.

Lift the brownies from the pan using foil as handles.
