The daiquiri originated at the turn of the century in the nickel-mining town of Daiquiri in southeast Cuba. You don’t need a degree in mixology to know that its principle ingredients, then as now, are lime juice, sugar, and rum. Today daiquiris made with a multitude of fruits are enjoyed throughout the Americas. The following passion fruit daiquiri will give you a whole new perspective on, and appreciation for, a Caribbean classic.

ingredients

  • 3/4 cup frozen or bottled passion fruit juice or 15 passion fruits
  • 2/3 cup light rum
  • 6 tablespoons firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 3 cups crushed ice
