Lauren's Yeast Rolls

ingredients
- 1 tsp. Sugar
- 1 Package Active Yeast
- 1/4 C. Tepid Water (105-110 degrees)
- 1 C. Warm Milk
- 1/4 C. Melted Butter
- 1/2 C. Sugar
- 1 Egg beaten
- 1 tsp. Salt
- 4 C. All-Purpose Flour

Combine 1 tsp. sugar, yeast, and water. Allow the mixture to stand 5-10 minutes until foamy.

Thoroughly mix milk, butter, 1/2 C. sugar, egg, and salt in a large bowl.

Stir in the yeast mixture and about 3 1/2 C. flour, adding a bit more if necessary to make soft pliable dough. Mix with a wooden spoon.

Turn dough onto a floured surface and let rest while you clean and butter the bowl.

Knead the dough with your finger tips for about 5 minutes until silky and smooth.

Return to the dough to the bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size. About 1 1/2-2 hours.

Butter 12 muffin cups.

Punch the dough down gently.

Pinch off pieces of dough that are about 1 1/2 inches in diameter and put 2 balls in each muffin cup.

Cover the muffin pan and let rise for about 45 minutes.

Bake rolls at 350 for about 20-25 minutes.

During the last 2 minutes brush with melted butter and return to the oven. Brush with melted better again after the have finished baking.

When baking always use real butter instead of margarine
