BBQ Pork Sandwich-slow cooked pork
The best slow cooked pulled pork. Very easy and can be placed in a slow cooker. A mix of Tyler Florence, Paula Deen, and Southern Living’s recipes
ingredients
- Dry Rub:
- 2 TB salt
- 2 TB black pepper
- 2 TB dark brown sugar
- 2 TB paprika
- 1/2 TB cayenne
- 4 pound shoulder pork roast
- 2 cups of apple juice
- 1 cup of apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 TB liquid smoke
- 1/2 TB garlic powder
- 2 TB Worcestershire
- Buns
- your favorite BBQ sauce
- pickles for Bobby
directions
- 1
preheat oven to 325
- 2
Mix the dry ingredient together. Sprinkle generously over the pork shoulder pressing in to the pork. Cover with plastic and refrigerate for at least two hours.
- 3
Combine liquid ingredients and the garlic powder and pour in large Dutch oven or slow cooker. Place pork and cover with aluminum foil and then lid if in oven.
- 4
roast for 4 hours until fork tender and shreds easily or over night if in slow cooker. You need to baste the roast as often as you can rehydrating the meat. Every hour if you can. I usually cook on high for 8 hours, then low for 4- 8 more hours and then let set at room temp before serving or storing in the fridge.
notes
We absolutely love this and make it often. Add BBQ sauce of your choice and grill your buns toasty. Bobby likes lots of pickles and I make quesadillas with the meat. Place leftovers in single serving bags. Place in freezer.
