ingredients

Tishpisti - Aunt Betty’s
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 2 cups matzo meal
  • 1 medium orange
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup ground walnuts
Syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 medium orange

directions

Tishpishti

Mix eggs, sugar and oil thoroughly. Add juice and rind of orange. Add matzo meal and chopped nuts. Mix until mixture is moist and pour into well greased 9“x9” pan. Cut across with straight lines then cut diagonal at length into diamond shapes. Place 1/2 walnut on the top of each section. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes in preheated oven. Cool 5-7 minutes. Slowly pour syrup all over the top of cake. Cover with a towel and let stand.

Syrup

Mix syrup ingredients and cook over low heat until slightly thick. Cool.
