Chicken/Murgh ka Salan
This easy and fast recipe will put dinner on the table in no time.
ingredients
- 2 lbs washed chicken(bone or boneless)
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1 large chopped onion
- 2 medium chopped tomatoes
- 1/2 cup yogurt or sour cream
- 1 1/2 tsp. ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp. red chili powder
- 1 tsp. green chili paste
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 tsp. cumin & coriander powder (dhana jeera)
- 1 part Garam Masala (2 cardamom, 2 cloves, 1 inch stick cinnamon, 2 bay leaves; eliachi, lawang, kalmi, tej patta).
- A pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
- A handful of chopped coriander (dhania)
- 1/4 tsp. Garam Masala Powder

In a deep pan, add the whole garam masala, cooking it on medium heat for around a minute, until sizzling.

Add the chopped onion to the pan and fry until golden brown.

Add the yogurt or sour cream, tomatoes, ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, green chili paste, cumin & coriander powder, and salt to the pan and simmer on medium heat, stirring occasionally until 1/2 the juices in the mixture have evaporated.

Next, add the washed chicken to the pan and cook covered on medium heat for approximately 15 minutes, or until chicken is tender. If desired, add 1 cup water to make curry with added gravy.

Once cooked, remove off the heat and add the chopped coriander and garam masala powder to the pan, stirring the curry.

Serve warm with rotis, rice, tandoori naan, or parathas.
