Death by chocolate cake
For chocolate lovers only. This is a very rich chocolate cake. Best served with whipped cream, or white chocolate sauce.
ingredients
- 8 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 lb sweet butter
- (room temperature cut into pieces)
- 5 extra large eggs at room temp

Preheat the oven to 350°. Make sure the rack is in the center of the Oven.

Butter 9” pan. Cut a piece of wax paper to the size of the pan bottom and place it in the pan. Butter the paper.

Chop all the chocolate into fine pieces. Put all the water & 1 cup of sugar in 1 1/2 quart pot. Bring to a rapid boil, and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, and add chocolate immediately. Until melted, add butter one piece at a time.

Beat the eggs & 1/3 cup sugar in bowl until sugar dissolves. Add the chocolate mixture to the bowl, and mix, do not over beat.

Pour it in the prepared pan. Set the pan in a larger pan, and pour hot water in larger pan.

Bake 25-30 minutes. Let it cool 10 minutes, run a sharp knife around the edge to release.
