Savoie French Meat Pie
Traditional Holiday Meat Pie served on Christmas Eve.
ingredients
- 1lb of lean ground beef
- 1 lb of ground pork
- 2 medium sized potatoes
- 1 small onion diced
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- Bell’s Seasoning
- 1 Pkg of prepared pie crust (Pillsbury is recommended or make your own crust)

Peel and quarter potatoes, boil until fork tender, reserve boiling liquid.

Saute onion in vegetable oil until translucent. Add ground beef and ground pork and saute until meet is cooked through.

Drain beef and onion mixture and place in a large bowl, add potatoes,Bell’s Seasoning, and a small amount of the boiling liquid. Using a potato masher , mash until well blended adding additional liquid if needed to keep moist or additional seasoning.

Transfer mixture to pie crust and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 60 minutes or until crust is a nice golden brown.

My family tends to like the pie with a strong flavor so we use anywhere from a 1/2 a box to 3/4 of a box of Bell's Seasoning. Adjust flavoring to desired taste. Enjoy!
